정의

... latencies are both measures of the performance of a system They are both percentiles, which means that they represent the percentage of requests that take less time than the specified latency

• 시스템의 성능을 나타내는 latency 지표

• 예를 들면 p99의 경우 99% 요청이, 해당 시간보다 짦은 latency 가지고 있다.

  • 즉 1% 요청이 해당 latency 보다 오래 걸린다.

특징

• P95가 P99보다 시스템 성능을 측정하는데 일반적으로 더 유리하다고 봄

  • 왜? P99의 경우 outlier 가 있을 수 있음

  • 즉 시스템 영향이 아닌 다른 이유에서 혼자 튀는 지표를 가지고 있을 확률이 높기 때문이라 이해됨.

예시

p99 1.403

• 99%의 request가 1.403초 보다 덜 걸린다.

• 1% request 가 1.403초 보다 더 걸린다.
